Waiting Overlay
The waiting overlay is a popup displayed above the current frame to indicate that the application is busy and avoid user interaction during a process.
How to display a waiting overlay and hide it
The view model method DisplayWaitingOverlayMessage() can be used to display a waiting overlay, then the method HideWaitingOverlayMessage() can be used to hide the waiting overlay.
DisplayWaitingOverlayMessage("Please wait ...");
await Task.Delay(2000);
HideWaitingOverlayMessage();
How to display a waiting overlay during an asynchronous process
The view model method InvokeWithWaitingOverlayAsync can be used to display a waiting overlay during a process.
The first argument of the method is the message to display in the waiting overlay.
The second argument is the method to execute.
For example:
int result = await InvokeWithWaitingOverlayAsync("Please wait ...", ()=> ActionAsync(true));
An overlay is diplayed above the current frame with the message "Please wait ..." during execution of the asynchronous method ActionAsync.
If the method ActionAsync returns a value, it is returned by the method InvokeWithWaitingOverlayAsync.
